A feature formerly known as a blog in which our narrator documents his longshot bid to make it in the publishing biz—complete with lots of gory details and lessons learned about crafting fiction, quitting jobs in order to better craft fiction, writing queries, finding an agent, begging for jobs to pay the bills after quitting jobs in order to better craft fiction, getting rejections, fending off debt collectors with last pair of chopsticks from cheap Chinese takeout place where last dollar was spent celebrating the positive adjectives in latest rejection letter, and—finally, one hopes—getting published. After which, of course, comes negotiation, preproduction, selling kidney on the black market to pay for publicity stunt involving circus elephants and trumpeteers…
